Origins & Foundation
In the closing centuries of the medieval era, the scholar-sage Sorvael Thindmere identified a singular confluence of terrestrial and celestial energy pathways within a secluded highland valley—a place known only as Vorrethis. The land's crystalline geological formations and naturally aligned apertures sang in resonance with the turning of celestial spheres, creating what Thindmere described in archival texts as "a living threshold between the seen and the unseen."
What began as a solitary observatory and contemplative hermitage gradually evolved, through successive generations of dedicated scholars, into the structured institution now known as the Valdrishen Academy of Vorrethis—formerly called the Vorrethian Veil Sanctum. Each generation added to the archive, refined the observational methodologies, and deepened the ethical frameworks that govern practice within these walls.
Today, the academy's central facility is housed within the Sanctum of the Veiled Deep: a naturally illuminated subterranean complex that functions simultaneously as a living repository of knowledge and an active laboratory for energetic observation. Its location remains protected and selectively accessible, preserving the integrity of both its environmental conditions and its energetic resonance.
